2" x 4" mesh opening
Silt fence is a temporary sediment barrier facility made of porous polypropylene filter fabric. It is primarily used to restrict the loss of loose soil and retain sediment in place from disturbed land like construction sites. Silt fences are typically installed as perimeter control measures and are often used in conjunction with sediment basins or sediment traps and erosion control measures.
Wire backed silt fence is composed of high-quality woven geotextile fabric and wire mesh, with added UV stabilizers to resist degradation caused by exposure to sunlight. The most common silt fence fabrics are 70 g and 100 g, and the metal wires is usually 12.5 gauge or 14.5 gauge with a 2" x 4" or 4" x 4" wire mesh opening. This design enhances the stability and filtration capability of the fence, effectively preventing the loss of fine particles while ensuring the passage of water.
